What you’ll learn

  • DJ gear + beatmatching fundamentals (Serato or Rekordbox)

Understanding DJ gear and the fundamentals of beatmatching is essential for any aspiring DJ. Whether you're using Serato or Rekordbox, grasping the basic principles of beatmatching can elevate your performance and help you create seamless transitions between tracks.

  • Music discovery + crate building

Music discovery and crate building are integral parts of navigating the vast landscape of sound. By delving into various genres, artists, and playlists, listeners uncover hidden gems that resonate with their personal taste.

  • Mixing, transitions, and energy flow

Mixing, transitions, and energy flow are crucial elements in creating cohesive and engaging narratives. Mixing involves blending various elements, such as themes or genres, to enhance the overall experience. Transitions serve as bridges between tracks ensuring a smooth progression. Energy flow refers to the rhythm and momentum.

  • Storytelling through sound

An art form that transforms a collection of tracks into a cohesive narrative. A skilled DJ crafts a journey by selecting and blending songs that reflect a range of emotions, creating dynamic highs and introspective lows.

✺ Frequently asked questions ✺

  • We accept 13 years old and above.

  • Nope! We provide access to professional gear during your sessions. If you do have gear, we’ll help you get more comfortable with it too.

  • This course is designed for DJs who already have a foundational understanding of mixing, equipment, and track flow.
If you’re brand new to DJing, we recommend starting with the Workroom: Foundations Track, where you’ll learn everything you need to feel confident behind the decks.

Once you complete that track (or demonstrate equivalent experience through a readiness check), you’ll be fully prepared to join this Performance Course (Showcase Track).

  • That’s great — this container is built for you. The Performance Course (Showcase Track) is designed for DJs who already know the basics and want to refine their storytelling, flow, and stage presence.

Even experienced DJs benefit from personalized creative direction, intentional feedback, and the opportunity to perform within a supportive cohort.

If you’re unsure whether this course is the right fit, you can submit a short recorded mix for a readiness check — we’ll help you determine which Workroom Track best meets your current goals.

  • All sessions, including your 1:1s and group meetup will be held at our private creative studio on O‘ahu. This is a space we’ve built for our work. The exact location will be shared upon acceptance into the program.

  • You’ll have 1 private session per week (90 minutes) plus some light practice or music discovery in between.

We do recommend practicing outside of the container for at least an hour each week.

  • We understand that life happens — things come up, and sometimes you need space. Our priority is always to support you in a way that feels realistic and aligned.

That said, consistency and presence are key to your growth and to maintaining the integrity of the container. If we notice ongoing absences or lack of engagement, we’ll check in first to see what support you need.

Depending on the situation, we may mutually decide that it’s best for you to pause and reapply for a future cohort when you’re in a better place to commit fully.

  • Yes. Just apply and select payment plan.

  • Once you apply, we’ll review your answers to see if the vibe and goals are aligned. If it feels like a fit, we’ll follow up with next steps to confirm your spot.
